I thought this year would be one of DOING much for the Kingdom, of discovering “what’s next” in ministry, and yet the Lord is reminding me to focus on BEING with Him.
I thought this year would be one of DOING much for the Kingdom, of discovering “what’s next” in ministry, and yet the Lord is reminding me to focus on BEING with Him.
Why do we continue to allow ourselves to be seen by our own goodness instead of allowing others to see His grace and mercy and love through our brokenness?
God is a Master Artist. He reimagines and refashions and redesigns our most tragic life circumstances into His own masterpiece.
The world asks me, “What are you waiting for?” Implying that I am the one that needs to make things happen, and get things the way I like them. Do what I want, when I want, and get results, fast. But my God asks me, “No Amy, WHO are you waiting on?”
If you look at my other words, they all have elements for something to do, but this year, this word, it about who I am.

As I have pursued the idea of what it means to be a follower in the simplest sense of the word, it has meant saying to my Leader, “not my will, but yours,” while wholeheartedly entering into His direction for my life.I am admonishing each of us to look to our Leader for the unique agenda He has planned for each of us and to sink in to it completely, not looking to the left or to the right. As we run our race, may we also encourage others in their journey and seek to edify each person as ENOUGH.
All I know is this: I don’t want to move ahead, forgetting where I’ve been. Nor do I want to become useless because I won’t move forward. Practicing celebration is one way to create space for both and lean into the tensions of this life.
But even if you somehow DO master meal planning, get married/have kids “on time,” or (fill in the blank where you would love to succeed), social media will not relent. It will find another area where you aren’t enough. Come sit behind the walls of God’s refuge, where you can breathe deeply and be you. He sees beyond your unfinished meal plan calendar, your weight loss goals that haven’t been met, or your Eharmony inbox that is empty. You are loved by Him and enough for Him.
